U.S. Border Officials Seize $10 Million In Fake Rolex Watches

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection have confiscated 460 fake Rolex watches from two shipments from Hong Kong that were on their way to Brooklyn.

On Monday, CBP announced it seized two shipments of 460 counterfeit watches that, if sold on the street, would come up to a total of $10.1 million. Fox News reports that one box had 300 watches while the other had 160. Earlier in April, CBP seized the third box, bringing the total to $20 million.

“No one buys a luxury brand watch expecting it to fail or fall apart. As consumers increasingly purchase from online or third-party vendors, our officers are at the frontline to guard against defrauders expecting to make money selling fake merchandise,” CBP Chicago Field Operations Director LaFonda Sutton-Burke said in a statement, Fox News reports.

This last bust is part of the CBP’s plans to end the shipment of fake luxury items being brought into the states. Back in 2020, the organization stopped a shipment of 1,180 fake Rolex watches. It also obtained several millions worth of counterfeit professional sports items, including jerseys, championship rings and more.
