US Marshals announced that hundreds of people were arrested on the Gulf Coast in a multi-agency sweep aimed at getting documented gang members off the street.
In total, 351 people were arrested due to “Operation Triple Beam,” including 92 gang members. More than $4 million was confiscated, including 32 kilos of drugs and 86 handguns.
The operation began on April 7 and concluded on September 30. The main objective was to gather criminal intelligence, identify targets, and target gang members and violent offenders. The arrested individuals face charges ranging from capital murder to sexual offenses.
“The goal of Operation Triple Beam is to foster safer communities by providing immediate relief from gang-related violence by investigating and arresting fugitive gang members and the criminal organizations responsible for committing violent crimes,” said T. Michael O’Connor, US Marshal for the Southern District of Texas, in a statement.
In addition to the Marshals, the Corpus Christi Police Department, Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the US Attorney’s Office and other agencies were all involved in the operation.
“I am extremely proud of all our law enforcement partners who have worked so diligently these past several months,” said O’Connor.
