The US Marshals are seeking help in identifying a man from a 2016 Dodgers baseball game who resembles most wanted fugitive John Ruffo. Ruffo, who was convicted of swindling banks out of $353 million in the ’90s, vanished before he was set to start a 17-year prison sentence. He’s been on the run for nearly 24 years.
The feds say a bald man in a blue shirt and glasses sitting in the stands at Red Sox vs. Dodgers game in Aug. 2016 might be Ruffo.
According to the Marshals, Ruffo was expected to report to prison in New Jersey on Nov. 9, 1998, however, he never showed up. Instead, Ruffo rented a car and was caught on surveillance withdrawing money from an ATM and then headed to the airport. He was never seen again.
Ruffo, now 66, is named one of the Marshal’s 15 most wanted fugitives and is believed to have run off with about $13 million. The feds are offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who can lead them to Ruffo.
