The United States is making headlines after setting a daily record of more than one million Coronavirus cases.
Not sure when reality will set in for Americans, but in the meantime, our country continues to run these Rona numbers up. According to Bloomberg, as of Monday, more than 1 million people in the U.S. were diagnosed with COVID-19. This new record is partly due to the new COVID-19 variant Omicron, which is reportedly harder to evade regardless of whether a person has been vaccinated.
Just four days ago, the record in the country was about 590,000 cases, and that’s double what it was the week before, the news outlet reports. The number of cases in the U.S. is twice the amount that has ever been seen anywhere else at any point. India was the only other location that came close to this number of cases, with 414,000.
Schools, businesses, restaurants and more are going back to shutdowns and at-home learning. Airlines have also been canceling flights due to staff shortages and an effort to curve the spread. Hospitals are also going back to back to being overwhelmed with patients.
What’s even scarier is some of these cases aren’t properly reported to government officials, as more and more people are relying on at-home tests. This means the number of cases in the country may actually be significantly higher.
