Usher is on a winning streak right now with no sign of slowing down.
Following his record-breaking Super Bowl performance, the singer has just revealed plans to create a drama series centered around one of the beloved themes in his music: love.
The show will explore “Black love in Atlanta and individuals looking to find a place to call home. The series will explore music, style, sex, romance, and secrets that threaten to tear relationships apart,” Variety reports.
To bring the project to life, Usher has partnered with Universal Content Productions, commonly known as UCP. The group is a subsidiary of Universal Studio Group. Selwyn Seyfu Hinds and Katie Zucker of Mad Massive Entertainment will executive produce alongside Kenny Meiselas of KMei Productions.
For the past few months, Usher has been on the move. He wrapped up his acclaimed Las Vegas residency in December 2023. Around this time, the Grammy Award winner was announced as the Super Bowl Halftime performer, stealing the show during the February 2024 Las Vegas performance. As a cherry on top, he married longtime partner Jennifer Goicoechea in a drive-thru wedding before the big game. Usher is also celebrating the release of his album, “Coming Home,” and forthcoming tour, which will kick off this summer in his hometown Atlanta, Georgia.
As of now, the release date, actors involved with the project, and streaming platform have yet to be unveiled. It’s also unknown how many episodes will be applied and whether or not this is a limited series or something with multiple seasons.
