An Usher Verzuz battle is not entirely off the table, but the singer has now alluded to something else being in the works.
The “Nice & Slow” superstar sat down with E! ‘s Daily Pop show, where he dished on an array of topics. During the chat, the subject of Verzuz re-emerged. The host listed possible contenders that have been explored to battle the r&b icon, including Trey Songz, Ne-Yo, and fan hopeful, Chris Brown. However, the Grammy-award-winner declined but hinted at something greater.
“There was a flyer that was put together. It’s not official. No, we’re not doing that. But I can appreciate what I see,” he explained before adding, “I don’t think y’all ready for nothing like that. You might be ready for something like that on stage, maybe in the future. Stay tuned.”
What that “something” is remains to be seen, but it likely wouldn’t be hard to get the men on board for a concert or even tour. Chris Brown has previously expressed his adoration for the singer and willingness to do a Verzuz with him.
“I would want to celebrate him and his life just as much as celebrating my stuff,” Brown shared during his June appearance on Revolt’s “Drink Champs.”
While there may be no Verzuz to look forward to, fans can still experience Usher’s three decades of greatness during his Las Vegas residency, which runs through October at Dolby Live at Park MGM.
