Authorities found the body of an aspiring hip-hop artist inside a trunk of a Virginia man’s car after he crashed on a Miami highway.
CBS Miami reported that 25-year-old Robert Coltrain was arrested and charged with illegal transportation of human remains and second-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Brian Trotter.
On Sunday, Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash on the Palmetto Expressway and found Coltrain in his silver Acura.
Police became suspicious of Coltrain after they towed the vehicle to the parking lot of Hialeah’s Westland Mall, where they asked him to remove his items from the vehicle, which included a gun case.
According to the police report, authorities said they were also suspicious because they noticed buzzing flies and a “foul odor emitting from the rear of the 2009, Silver, Acura RL.
When police opened Coltrain’s trunk they found Trotter’s body “wrapped in a piece of fabric and in an advanced stage of decomposition.”
An autopsy later revealed that Trotter was fatally shot multiple times.
During a recorded call at the Homicide Bureau, Coltrain apologized and told his sister the shooting took place on October 17 in Virginia. Trotter was last seen that day leaving his home in Triangle, Virginia with Coltrain.
