Val Kilmer, the legendary actor known for Top Gun (1986) and Batman Forever (1995), has died at 65.
His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed he passed away from pneumonia on April 1. Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 but later recovered.
His final on-screen appearance was in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), where he reprised his role as Iceman, a nod to the movie that made him a household name.
Kilmer’s career was stacked with iconic roles: Jim Morrison in The Doors (1991), Doc Holliday in Tombstone (1993), and Simon Templar in The Saint (1997). He was praised for his intense performances, earning a Saturn Award for The Doors and critical acclaim for Tombstone.
Despite years of speculation, Kilmer confirmed his battle with throat cancer in 2017, sharing his journey in the documentary Val (2021). He relied on a voice box due to complications from treatment but continued to inspire fans.
Kilmer leaves behind his two children, Mercedes and Jack Kilmer, both actors.
