Vanessa Bryant has gotten a new tattoo in memory of her late daughter, Gianna.
On Instagram, she announced that she got a new arm tattoo in honor of her 13-year-old daughter, who died in a horrific helicopter crash with her father Kobe Bryant and seven others in January 2020.
Vanessa, 38, had the word “Mambacita” tattooed on her arm with the help of tattoo artist Nikko Hurtado, as a tribute to Gianna’s nickname.
She later revealed that she spent “8 hours deciding on the font” for the artwork, which includes a heart over the “i” and a butterfly at the end of the word.
Her caption read under the post revealing her tattoo, “Mambacita ❤️🦋 #Gianna #Gigi #2.”
In one Story clip, she clarified that Hurtado draws his tattoos with a single needle to “keep the lines clear.” While the concept took hours to come up with because Hurtado is a “perfectionist,” the actual inking process just took “5 minutes,” according to Vanessa.
She also posted videos of her 18-year-old daughter Natalia getting her fourth tattoo on her finger, which was the word “muse.”
This isn’t her first tattoo in memory of her loved ones who have passed away. In June, she posted several videos of herself getting tattooed in honor of her husband and daughter on Instagram.
“I wanted my boo boo’s @kobebryant sweet message transferred on me,” she captioned one collection of videos in which the same tattoo artist, Hurtado, inks a spot on her neck.
Vanessa said, “@nikkohurtado came through for me, Thank you! #inked #messagetransfer #BooBoo #throwback.”
In another post, referring to her tattoos from February, “Shoutout to @nikkohurtado for coming over and helping me get my Gigi’s sweet message transferred on me. #throwbacktoFebruary.”
Hurtado wrote in the caption of one of Vanessa’s videos, “Truly honored to give you something to carry with you my friend.”
