Vanessa Bryant is still in mourning after losing her husband, Kobe Bryant, and daughter GiGi in a fatal helicopter crash earlier this year. But now, she is being forced to clear up claims that her mother made to the media about her.
Sofia Laine, Bryant’s Mother, sat down for an interview where she claimed Bryant kicked her out of the home. She said that Bryant told her, “You need to leave my house and give me my car.”
According to reports, Bryant has since released an official statement to the network, denying her mother’s claims and explaining the state of their relationship.
“My husband and daughter passed away unexpectedly, and yet my mother had the audacity to do a television interview speaking negatively of me while shedding tears for a car and a house that were not in her name,” Bryant said. “She has removed all her diamond jewelry, emptied the apartment I provided, and put away the furniture to make it look like she doesn’t have my support. My husband and I have supported her financially for the past 20 years, and continue to do so, in addition to her monthly alimony.”
Vanessa then continued discussing the true state of the relationship with her mother this past year.
“Contrary to previous reports, she has not been physically present or emotionally supportive of my daughters and me after my husband and daughter passed away, and now I see what is most important to my mother, and it’s more than painful. I hope that everything that is coming out about our personal relationship ends here.”
Sofia’s interview aired on Univision’s “El Gordo Y La Flaca” on Monday. She has yet to respond to her daughter’s statement publicly.
