Vanessa Bryant has settled a lawsuit filed against her by her mother.
According to TMZ Sports, Vanessa’s Mother, Sofia Laine, claimed she worked as a nanny for Vanessa and her late husband, NBA legend Kobe Bryant for nearly 20 years.
Laine claimed in court documents that she was owed $200,000 for her services, computed at a rate of $96 an hour.
She also claimed that her late son-in-law had promised to take care of her for the rest of her life, and she alleged that after his death, her own daughter kicked her out of the home Kobe purchased for her.
At the onset of the lawsuit, Vanessa called her mother’s claims “frivolous, disgraceful and unimaginably hurtful.”
“My husband never promised my mother anything, and he would be so disappointed in her behavior and lack of empathy,” the widow said.
Vanessa also clarified her mother’s claims that she worked as a nanny for her granddaughters.
“I have supported her for nearly 20 years and was never my or Kobe’s personal assistant, nor was she a nanny.”
The acrimonious case is now over, and the settlement terms were not disclosed to the public.
