Vice President Mike Pence took the recently authorized coronavirus vaccine on live television Friday morning.
According to Politico, Pence now becomes the highest-ranking elected official in the country to be inoculated against Covid-19.
Pence, his wife Karen Pence and Surgeon General Jerome Adams all had the vaccine, developed by U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer.
The vaccination ceremony was held in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building that was broadcast live across multiple television networks.
The vaccine was administered by the staff from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The broadcast was billed as an attempt to build up public confidence in the vaccination process.
