The woman who was shot and killed in Saturday’s mass shooting at a house party in New Jersey was described as a “hardworking” healthcare worker who migrated to America from Jamaica.
According to the NY Post, 25-year-old Asia Hester and a 30-year-old man were shot dead at a barbecue in southern Fairfield Township.
Authorities believe the victims in this shooting were caught in the violence that stemmed from a long-simmering local turf war in the neighborhood.
Hester’s family and friends grieved over the loss of their loved one with an outpouring of posts on social media.
“Asia, I’ve watched you grow up and become a beautiful young woman inside and out! I’m so sorry this crazy person took your life away. May he get what is coming to him,” one friend wrote on Facebook.
