Two other students, identified as Dayton Price, 19, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and Hayden Underhill, 20, of Amherstview, Ontario, Canada, were taken to area hospitals. They were listed in critical condition.
The student athletes were traveling back to school after playing at a tournament in Texas. The accident happened around 8:17 p.m. on Tuesday night on a stretch of rural highway in Andrews County, Texas.
“The USW campus community is shocked and saddened today as we mourn the loss of members of our university family,” the school said in a statement on Wednesday. The school advised that counseling staff and members of the worship team would be on campus for students, faculty, and staff to provide support following the tragedy.
