Critters can be found in even the swankiest of restaurants, and recently a French bistro in New York City had a visit from a furry friend.
Page Six obtained a video of a mouse running around the ceiling of Le Bilboquet. The NYC hotspot regularly hosts clientele such as Bill and Hilary Clinton, Ivana Trump, and even Michael Cohen. He was spotted at the restaurant while under house arrest in May.
But Bilboquet’s patrons didn’t seem to even bat an eye at the mouse. The mouse can be seen running along the length of the ceiling. The Upper East Side eatery blames coronavirus protocols for the intruder.
“For the first time in Bilboquet’s history we had a mouse briefly scurry through the premises. We believe it was due to doors kept open to increase ventilation in the midst of increased COVID protocols,” the restaurant said in a statement.Â
“Thankfully our patrons had a good laugh and took this uninvited guest’s unfortunate entrance as a moment of comic relief. Rest assured, the creature was removed promptly and we are rethinking leaving the doors open to prevent this from happening again,” the statement continued. “It’s not the sort of entertainment we will be repeating. But as Cindy Adams loves to say, only in New York kids, only in New York.”
Once dubbed “the snobbiest restaurant in New York” by the New York Post, it’s the type of place where a salad will run you more than $30. The restaurant’s owners include renowned French restaurateur Philippe Delgrange and billionaire Ronald Perelman.Â
