Just after #XXXtentacion was released from house arrest, a video surfaced of him slapping a girl upside the head. Although, the rapper’s attorney maintained that the two were friends, and “the video was taken completely in jest,” law enforcement sources told TMZ the video was being reviewed in connection to XXX’s domestic violence case.

Since then though, the alleged victim released a statement, which prompted a new assertion by the rapper’s legal team: Extortion.

“For those who are questioning why I didn’t come forth earlier was because I was terrified for my life,” the alleged victim said in a statement. “Imagine someone doing that to u unprovoked? At 16? Let alone the people he associates himself w/? Truth of the matter is I would still be holding on to this secret if it wasn’t leaked.”

Despite the rapper’s claim that the video was taken as a joke, the alleged victim has made it seem otherwise. However, according to the rapper’s legal team that is not the case. In fact, sources close to XXX tell TMZ that the two parties were in touch after the video got leaked to clear the air. The girl even reportedly agreed that the video was made as a joke.

But, things took a turn for the worse when the girl’s grandparents called XXX’s team to find out what they would be willing to do to make “everything good,” which, in turn, fueled thoughts of extortion.

“This ‘terrified’ woman decides to post this video now, conveniently, when [XXX] becomes famous. Draw your own conclusions,” the rapper’s attorney told the publication.
