Teenage McDonald’s employees were forced to hide in a refrigerator after a couple became enraged when the restaurant ran out of Splenda for their coffee.
The chaotic encounter took place around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday in Henry County, Georgia. Witness cell phone footage captured the moment when the couple got out of their white vehicle and began assaulting restaurant employees in the drive-thru. A 16-year-old working the drive-thru says the customers became upset when she informed them that the restaurant was out of the sugar substitute.

“They want to keep arguing with us about Splenda, and then, next thing you know, they’re throwing coffee at me and my co-workers,” the teen recounted to WSB-TV.
The video shows the man and woman tossing the coffee back at the staff, who then respond by throwing a beverage back at them through the window. This infuriated them further, causing them to enter the restaurant and begin throwing chairs at the employees. Several of the employees were underage and retreated into a refrigerator in the kitchen, fearing that the couple may have a gun after several threats of possibly having a weapon in their trunk.
Police were called, but the pair had fled by the time they arrived. However, the Locust Grove Police confirmed that they had been identified, and arrest warrants are pending. As of now, the couple has not yet been charged.
