A pilot was killed participating in a gender reveal in the Mexican city of San Pedro. Video of the incident shows party guests were unaware of the pilot’s plight.
In the video posted to X, the happy couple stands before a lighted sign that reads, “Oh Baby.” The sign is covered in pink and blue balloons.
The Piper PA-25 flies over the crowd, dropping a cloud of pink powder to indicate the baby is a girl. As the guests begin to cheer, the plane is seen suddenly shooting upward before spiraling out of control. The New York Post reports that the plane’s left wing collapsed mid-air.
The crowd was not immediately aware of the plane crash. The pilot, 32-year-old Luis Ángel N., was discovered in the plane’s wreckage. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
Clips of the tragedy have since gone viral on social media.
