Walgreens has tapped Starbucks operating chief Rosalind Brewer as its next CEO.
#BlackGirlMagic – can’t stop, won’t stop. And it continues with Roz Brewer, the woman who Walgreens just named as their next CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance. She will be replacing Stefano Pessina, the drugstore confirmed Tuesday evening, according to CNBC. The move makes Brewer the only Black woman to lead a Fortune 500 company.
On Tuesday, Starbucks announced Brewer would be leaving her position and moving on and into a CEO position for an undisclosed publicly-traded company, CNBC reports.
Brewer began her time with Starbucks back in 2017, and later that year became its chief operating officer. During her time, she served as CEO of the Walmart-owned Sam’s Club. Brewer also made history with Starbucks as the first Black woman to be COO of Starbucks and the first to head a company division. Before that, she worked for the manufacturing company Kimberly Clark.
Her previous responsibilities with Starbucks included creating technology initiatives, coming up with new coffee drinks, and more.
Congratulations to Brewer, a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc. like our VP Kamala Harris!
