"Wanted" Posters Targeting Healthcare Executives Emerge in New York City After UnitedHealthcare's CEO Slaying [Video]

New York City is experiencing an influx of morbid “Wanted” posters targeting healthcare executives.

This disturbing trend has swept NYC following the slaying of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last week. The 50-year-old was headed to the UnitedHealth Group’s investor conference at the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan last Wednesday when he was ambushed and fatally shot.

Police have since charged 26-year-old Luigi Mangione in connection with the crime. He was charged with second-degree murder. While no motive has been firmly established, Mangione reportedly had a strong contempt for the health insurance industry. Some have noted this could stem from his own medical issues and those of his family members.

Following Thompson’s death, unsettling images have been shared across social media showing the “Wanted” signs featuring the deceased CEO as well as other healthcare leaders plastered across traffic control boxes in Manhattan.

One video displayed a sign with a red X over Thompson’s photo. Other posters included images of Heather Cianfrocco, Optum Health’s CEO, and UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty. UnitedHealth Group is the parent company of UnitedHealthcare and Optum. The company has yet to speak out about the trend, which could be interpreted as a threat.

Some of the posters featured the words: “Wanted. Denying medical care for corporate profit. Healthcare CEOs should not feel safe.”

They also declared, “UnitedHealthcare killed everyday people for the sake of profit. As a result, Brian Thompson was denied his claim to life. Who will be denied next?”

It’s yet to be discovered who printed the posters and if law enforcement is taking steps to investigate.

How about removing the names so you don’t put people at risk. Unless everyone is automatically guilty for working at a health insurance company. Is that where we are?
