A teacher in Washington state has been placed on leave after she made a sexually suggestive joke during class.
A spokesperson for the Anacortes School District told Fox News Digital that a science teacher named Casey Anderson was reprimanded and then placed on administrative leave after she made a joke about lubricant and a cat-shaped tissue dispenser. Fox News reports Anderson had made a Twitter post recounting the joke.
“The most recent entry into, ‘Things Ms. Anderson Will Hear About From HR,” Anderson posted to social media on March 5, detailing how she refills the cat tissue dispenser to a student.
“I pause for a moment, then tell my class, ‘I turn down the lights, put on some soft music and use a LOT of vaseline,'” she wrote in the post. “I may have them retrieved [sic] a big container of petroleum jelly I had in my closet (for…reasons…) and placed it right by the cat,” she went on. “Class took a turn after that.”
Prior to Anderson’s leave, Superintendent Justin Irish said he didn’t think Anderson’s comments were punishable by termination.
“Although this conduct is concerning, it does not merit such an extreme result as termination,” he said at the time. “The district reached its decision in consultation with legal counsel, the teacher’s union and applicable state laws. The district expects all employees to adhere to professional standards and will continue to work with all staff to ensure that those standards are met.”
Anderson, who is transgender, has had other complaints made about her. Some of which criticized an alleged discussion she had about her sexual identity during class. The complaints were reportedly found to be groundless.
A teacher used vasoline and a cat-shaped tissue dispenser to make a sex joke to kids. She's been formally reprimanded by the district.
