A Washington Wizard announcer apologizes after coming under fire for making an insensitive reference to Kevin Porter Jr.’s late father.
During Porter’s winning shot, Glenn Consor made a comment that didn’t sit well with the fans.
“What a well-designed play. You gotta give him credit…Kevin Porter Jr., like his dad, pulled that trigger right at the right time,” the announcer said.
Now, the tone-deaf statement gained attention because Porter’s dad, Bryan Kevin Porter Sr., was convicted of shooting a teenage girl in 1993. Bryan spent four years in prison on a first-degree manslaughter charge. Not to mention, Bryan was murdered in 2004 after trying to help a woman being attacked at a bar.
Like many that were unhappy with the remarks from the announcer, LeBron James shared his thoughts on Twitter.
“Oh he thought this was cool huh!!?? Nah we ain’t going for this! Sorry but this ain’t going to fly! How insensitive can you be to say something like this. Beat it man! I pray for you but there’s no place in our beautiful game for you,” LeBron tweeted.

Glenn Consor has since apologized for his insensitivity. The announcer claims that he thought Porter was the son of Washington Bullets Kevin Porter.
“Please allow me to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize to Kevin Porter Jr., his family and the Rockets organization for the comments I made during last night’s game. I mistakenly thought that Kevin was the son of former Washington player Kevin Porter and was unaware that the words I chose to describe his game-winning shot would be in any way hurtful or insensitive. I have reached out to Kevin to personally apologize and hope to be able to talk with him soon.”
