The Tony Awards is warning all attendees to practice anti-slapping behavior, even in the event of spotting an opp at their ceremony.
Following the Oscars fiasco between actors Will Smith and Chris Rock, producers for the upcoming Tony Awards have issued an advisory to anyone who may be encouraged to re-create the slap heard around the world.
“The Tony Awards has a strict no violence policy,” read the memo sent out to all potential ticket holders. Anyone who gets physical with a fellow guest will be removed immediately.
The warning comes after the Oscars recently enforced a 10-year ban on Will Smith. At one point, the possibility of revoking his Oscar award was being considered after he boldly slapped Chris Rock for making a joke pertaining to Jada Pinkett-Smith’s hair. Interestingly enough, Smith was not removed after he assaulted the comedian.
The 75th Annual Tony Awards, which honors the achievements of Broadway productions, will take place live on Sunday, June 12th, at Radio City Music Hall in New York. For the first time, it will be broadcasted live coast to coast and will stream on Paramount+.
