Wendy Williams is fighting to regain control of her life, and her attorney Joe Tacopina says the legal system is standing in the way.
While celebrating Wendy’s birthday in New York City, Tacopina told TMZ reporters he’s fed up with the slow-moving process to end the former talk show host’s guardianship, which has been in place for over three years. He called the situation “sickening” and said he plans to sue those responsible if the court refuses to lift it.
Sources close to the case say the judge overseeing the matter has been reluctant to grant Wendy’s request to end the arrangement. If her latest motion is denied, Tacopina intends to push for a jury trial to determine whether she should be released from the guardianship entirely.
Those who have spent time with Wendy recently, including several media figures, claim she’s the same vibrant personality fans watched for years on TV and more than capable of managing her own life and finances.
Tacopina believes that with a jury involved, Wendy will finally get her freedom back.
