Daytime talk show host Wendy Williams opened up about being a functioning cocaine addict.
Williams has been promoting the Hunter’s Foundation national campaign “Be Here” which focuses on targeting drug and substance abuse and addiction. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the host shared intimate details about her addiction to cocaine and how she was comfortable with her story going public.
“I am not embarrassed about anything,” she said. Williams went on to say she worked well while high on the drug and that even though her show’s crew knew about her addiction that didn’t try to stop her.

“I was a functioning addict,” she continued. “I’d report to work on time, and I’d walk in and all my co-workers- including my bosses- would know, but instead of firing me…I would grab my headphones and arrogantly walk into the studio and dare them to fire me and [they] wouldn’t fire me, because I was making ratings.”

Williams added the drug never threw her off her job; she remained in control of her life and never let her addiction get in the way. “A functioning addict has several alarm clocks, you’re organized,” she explained. “It’s a miracle I was able to stop.”
