A trailer of Lifetime’s movie of Wendy William’s gave a glimpse of the host’s rise to fame, troubles with addiction, and the downfall of her marriage to ex-husband Kevin Hunter.
Williams is heavily involved in the biopic project with Lifetime as the executive producer. The movie stars Ciera Payton and Morocco Omari, Entertainment Tonight reports. The film was directed by Darren Grant, who is known for directing the hit show The Chi.
“Before I had you, I had me, and not you, nor anyone else has the power to take away my gifts!” Payton’s Williams yells in the trailer before declaring she’ll “turn this city out.”
In April of last year, Williams and Hunter divorced after she filed for divorce following Hunter’s cheating scandal. The former couple shares a 20-year-old son named Kevin Hunter, Jr. It was rumored that Hunter, Sr. got another woman pregnant while still married.
Williams has since spoken publicly about her new life as a single woman.
“I am getting used to life as a single woman again,” she said. “I was involved with him for over 25 years or so, and now I am a woman of a particular age in a particular stage in life, so being single now is a lot different.”
