Kevin Hunter Jr., Wendy Williams’ only son, has provided a rare and heartfelt update about his mother as she battles dementia. The 24-year-old shared the news on Instagram, revealing that the iconic former talk show host is “sober” and eager to return home after spending time in a treatment facility.
“While I’m here, quick update on my mom,” Hunter Jr. wrote in the comments of a celebratory post by Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne Tha God. “She’s sober and wants to come home. We’re fighting to make that happen because isolation is killing her faster than anything else.”
The post came after Charlamagne reposted a reel congratulating Hunter Jr. on his recent graduation from Florida International University, where he earned a degree in Economics. Wendy Williams attended the Miami ceremony last week alongside her 93-year-old father, Thomas Williams Sr., and other family members, proudly cheering as her son walked across the stage.
Hunter Jr. thanked Charlamagne for his kind words, and the heartwarming update about his mother has sparked both hope and concern among Wendy’s fans, who continue to follow her challenging health journey.
Williams, 59, has been navigating life with a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, as well as ongoing battles with Graves’ disease and lymphedema. In 2022, she was placed under court-ordered guardianship, with her current guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, recently describing her as “permanently incapacitated.”
