Wendy Williams’ son Kevin Hunter Jr. has officially pleaded not guilty in the alleged assault of his father, Kevin Hunter.
On Tuesday, the 18-year-old stood before a judge, with both Williams and Hunter Sr. in attendance, and entered a not guilty plea over a physical altercation with his father last month. In the incident, reported by TMZ, Williams dropped her son off at her old house to pick up a few things, while she left to run errands.
Sometime during the visit, Kevin and his father took a quick trip to the nearby store and eventually got into an argument in the parking lot. After Hunter claimed his ex was trained to “brainwash” Kevin, the incident escalated to violence.
Although Hunter declined to pursue “this matter legally,” Kevin was charged with simple assault and arrested. Now, just weeks later, the 18-year-old has pleaded not guilty.
Kevin’s attorney, Ray Hamlin told PEOPLE that the teen is looking “forward to resolving this case favorable and believe that the case will be resolved in that manner so that my client can enter into his Sophomore year of college with no distractions.”
In the meantime, the prosecutor on the case is asking for more time to review, all while taking into consideration Hunter’s decline to press charges.
