A white California man was arrested last week after being found with an arsenal of weapons and a handwritten racist manifest, according to the District Attorney’s Office for Santa Clara County.
Wesley Martines, 32, is charged with possession of drugs, assault weapons, multiple silencers, and the making of a pipe bomb. He was arraigned on those charges Tuesday. He was remanded on $300,000 bail.
Martines was located lurking outside of a business by the business owner, who called the police. The suspect was stopped in his car and searched. In his truck, they recovered bullets that had phrases like “Cop Killer,” “To a widow from the Grim Reaper,” and “A Good Start.”
Additionally, a handwritten manifesto was recovered with racist and anti-Semitic writings. In the manifesto, Martines expressed a desire to “wipe out the Black, Hispanic, and Jewish populations.”
The journal also included a plan to go to a sporting goods store dressed as an employee and tie everyone up.
Investigators also found weapons, including two AR-style rifles, which are illegal in California. A Glock 9 mm handgun, ammunition, and body armor were also recovered. Officers also found heroin, methamphetamine, and a pipe bomb filled with pellets but no explosive material inside.
“All of us have a role in stopping the next mass shooting, suicide, or domestic violence murder. Please call law enforcement if you know that someone is armed and dangerous,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a press release.
