In one video, the Penn State student, who has been identified as Kaitlin Listro, is seen singing the N-word over and over again. At the end of the video, she says, “If you’re offended then suck my d**k.” The second video shows the WPU student asking her Instagram followers, “Is it appropriate for me to say n***a if it’s in a song and you’re singing the lyrics, or is it not appropriate for me to say n***a? Let me know.”

The videos were leaked on Twitter by a Black Penn State student. The video has now been watched over 200,000 times. What’s even more shocking is Penn State’s response, which was that because of the student’s First Amendment rights they won’t be punishing her.

In a statement, the school said, “Penn State’s embrace of diversity and inclusion, and opposition to prejudice and hate, are clear. We condemn racist messages, as they are hateful and violate our institutional values. We cannot, however, impose sanctions for Constitutionally protected speech, no matter how offensive.” In regards to the William Paterson student, the school says they are investigating the videos to “determine what actions are appropriate.”

“We have learned of videos on social media including one in which a William Paterson student, who is also a leader in our sorority community, makes abhorrent and racially charged statements at a non-University gathering. We are disgusted by this behavior, which does not reflect our values or those we expect from our students.” The WPU student, who was in Delta Phi Epsilon sorority, has also had her membership revoked.
