The White House has a warning for any Americans still in Ukraine; you should leave “immediately.”
In a press briefing earlier today, President Biden’s national security advisor, Jake Sullivan, advised, “Any American in Ukraine should leave as soon as possible, and in any event in the next 24 to 48 hours.”
The White House is concerned that Russia could potentially launch an invasion of the Ukraine “any day now” — possibly while the Olympics are taking place in Beijing.
Sullivan’s remarks echo Biden’s comments made yesterday during an interview with NBC News. The President explained to Lester Holt, “This is a very different situation, and things could go crazy quickly.”
Russia has spent months reinforcing its military presence at various points along the Ukrainian border, with more than 100,000 troops are currently stationed there.
Sullivan pointed out that the U.S. officials are not certain that Russian President Vladimir Putin has made an ultimate decision to invade Ukraine. But he announced that “it may well happen soon.”
