I’m not sure what took so long but Richard Wilson Preston has finally be arrested. Preston was caught on video firing a gun in the direction of a black man while local police stood right there to see it all go down. Protestors were outraged at how slow officers were quick to act.
Preston was arrested from the August 12 incident after the video went viral. Preston can be seen arguing with a Black man in the video who eventually walked away. Preston is also seen screaming “Hey, n****” before actually firing the gun. Surprisingly, or not…Preston simply walked away after firing the gun.
Virginia State Police Department claims that officers were not aware of this incident and cited things like noise volume and music.
Preston is in custody at the Baltimore County Detention Center. He was charged with a discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school and if convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
