Whitney Purvis, known from MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” in 2009, is facing serious legal trouble in Georgia. The 33-year-old was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and two counts tied to the distribution of controlled substances. Authorities allege she supplied a fatal mix of Fentanyl and Xylazine, commonly referred to as “Tranq,” that led to the death of John Mark Harris back in February.
Currently being held without bond at Floyd County Jail, Purvis’ arrest comes at a devastating time in her personal life. Just weeks ago, she mourned the loss of her teenage son, Weston Jr., who was the infant she carried during her reality TV episode. Weston Jr. passed away from natural causes while living with his father, Weston Gosa. In a Facebook post, Purvis shared that her son struggled with multiple health conditions, including diabetes, Addison’s disease, and alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. She claimed he “lacked proper medical care,” though Gosa has denied those allegations.
The heartbreak didn’t end there. On June 23, Purvis shared that she recently lost her grandmother as well, someone she considered like a mother.
“Losing both of you within 6 months of each other feels like torture,” she wrote. “When my son passed life felt like time stood still.”
Despite her grief, she expressed the need to stay strong for her remaining children. “I have two more sons that still need me… I’m just existing for them and not for myself.”
