The song of the summer is a hotly contested title each year, with numerous tracks vying for the top spot as the season’s defining anthem. This year, the competition is fierce, featuring releases from a mix of artists such as the established and incomparable Kendrick Lamar and breakout star Tommy Richman.
With the hotter months upon us, many fans have gotten to experience the impact of such records firsthand while outside. This has been apparent, especially with Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” which takes shots at Drake, who has ironically been a contender for song of the summer on several occasions with hits such as “The Motto” and “All Me.”
Richman offers a dance track, which seems to be handcrafted with brunch in mind. His “Million Dollar Baby” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 last month at No. 2. His TikTok-enthused melody is a sneak attack, seemingly appearing out of nowhere and becoming an instant classic. However, can this single withstand its fellow top contenders to be remembered as the song of summer 2024?
