Whoopi Goldberg’s co-hosts on the ABC talk show “The View” are reportedly furious at the network for suspending the EGOT winning personality over her comments claiming that the Holocaust was “not about race.”
This news comes after ABC News president Kim Godwin announced Goldberg’s two-week suspension late last night, saying, “effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for her wrong and hurtful comments. While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments.”
The 66-year-old actress and leader of “The View” panel upset some viewers with her comments about the Holocaust during Monday’s show. She then appeared on “The Late Show With Steven Colbert” that evening and seemed to double down on her opinion. Still, by the end of the night, she took to her social media accounts to walk back her previous statements and apologize.
Goldberg also made a formal apology on yesterday’s episode, which Godwin praised in an internal email, but insiders claim some ABC staffers insisted the apology wasn’t enough and demanded she be fired.
Other network insiders told the New York Post that Goldberg’s “View” co-hosts — Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, and Ana Navarro — are now furious after Godwin announced a two-week suspension.
