It looks like “The View” is kicking off 2022 without Whoopi Goldberg — at least for a little while. On Monday’s episode, host Joy Behar announced that her co-host tested positive for Covid over the holiday and will be absent from the show this week.
“Why am I here instead of Whoopi? Well, Whoopi, unfortunately, tested positive over the break, but she’ll be back probably next week,” said Behar. “But since she’s vaxxed and boosted, her symptoms have been very, very mild, but we’re being super cautious here at ‘The View.'”
The panel of women will do the show from home for the first couple of weeks in 2022. Behar hopes it won’t extend longer than that, “But you never know because this omicron thing is all over the place,” she said.
Host Sunny Hostin also revealed that she tested positive for COVID over the holiday break but has since recovered.
Goldberg was briefly absent from the talk show in December, missing two shows after exposure to COVID, although she had tested negative. Behar promised they would “be checking with her soon.”
Frequent co-host, Ana Navarro, will be sitting on the panel in Goldberg’s absence this week.
During Monday’s broadcast of The View, it was revealed that Navarro’s mother passed away while “The View” was on break.
“I’m not sure any of us are ever ready to lose a parent. I’m sad, Joy. I’m heartbroken. I wish my mom had been in good health a little longer and able to enjoy her family, which is what she loved the most,” said Navarro
The show is taking the new surge of COVID seriously and plans to move things forward safely snd cautiously.
