Jennifer and Jamie Faith had a seemingly happy marriage, but that facade crumpled on October 9, 2020.
The day started with the couple walking their dog, at about 7:30 a.m., just like every morning. The couple had only made it as far the house next door when a stocky man wearing baggy jeans, a blue mask, and a hoodie darted out of the shadows and shot Jamie seven times.
After Jamie’s shocking death, the couple’s community of Oak Cliff, Texas, rallied around Jennifer. A Facebook group raised $60,000 via GoFundMe, and others sent food and other donations to Jennifer and her grown daughter to help them during the difficult time.
While Jennifer was busy playing on the community’s sympathies, federal investigators were busy putting together all the facts in their case against her. On February 24, 2021, they arrested Jennifer and her old high school boyfriend, Darrin Lopez, for their involvement in an alleged murder-for-hire plot.
Authorities claim Faith and Lopez had an “emotional affair” that was primarily conducted via emails. Faith convinced her ex-boyfriend that her husband was abusive and even sent Lopez emails pretending to be her husband, bragging about his mistreatment of his wife.
According to Federal documents, Lopez was fooled by multiple email accounts set up by Jennifer that all provided “evidence” of Jamie’s abuse.
Lopez, who lived in Tennessee, was arrested in January 2021 after authorities tracked the car from the shooting scene to his home.
Lopez pleaded not guilty to a gun charge after authorities found the alleged murder weapon in his house. He is also expected to enter a plea to the murder charge soon. Jennifer has yet to enter a plea for the murder-for-hire charges. She could potentially face life in prison or the death penalty.
