On Wednesday, Will Smith added, yet, another skill to his extensive professional resume, after he took the stage at the Peppermint Club in Los Angeles for his standup debut.
With his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith and daughter, Willow, in attendance, Smith used the opportunity to check the new feat off his “bucket list.” In fact, the experience also doubled as a segment for a show called, “The Bucket List.”
“I kind of lost control of my house,” Smith joked, as he discussed his wife’s Facebook show, “Red Table Talk,” which featured his ex-, Sheree in the first episode.
Smith also made light about joining social media before he busted a rhyme to end the show. But, Smith wasn’t the only heavy hitter in the attendance.
Hosted by Dave Chappelle, described as “Comedy Fight Club,” the surprise comedy show featured appearances by the new Laker, LeBron James, Jon Stewart, Michelle Wolf, Katt Williams and more. With jokes about the #MeToo movement, race and religion, the private event surfaced as a safe space for comedians as there was not a cell phone in sight to share the moments.
At the end of the show, Chappelle proclaimed, “There’s a new sheriff in town,” which suggests a new wave of entertainment at the hands of the comedic genius.
