Will Smith Opens Up About Falling In Love With Jada Pinkett-Smith, “Horrible” Wedding Memories, Communication Issues And More

Red Table Talk is back, and this season the first guest to join the table is Will Smith who opens up about marital issues with Jada Pinkett Smith, pursuing Jada moments after signing divorce papers and much more.

The Smith’s are one of the most well-known Hollywood couples, and like most, they have several rumors that have followed them for years. In the new season of “Red Table Talk” Will joins Jada, his daughter Willow Smith and his mother-in-law Adrienne Banfield Jones to address every speculation fans may have started from the beginning of their relationship. 

Will discussed how he initially went to the set of “A Different World” to meet Jada but ended up meeting and eventually marrying Sheree. Will and Jada never had an affair but Will admitted he knew Jada was the one for him before being divorced.  “I knew there was something in our energy that would be magic,” Will said.

Coming to a realization that he wasn’t married to the right person Will recalls how he had to remove himself from a dinner he was having with Sheree to cry. “I was sitting in a stall and I was crying and laughing uncontrollably, and I knew [Jada] was the woman I was supposed to be with, but I was never getting divorced… I went back out, sat down with Sheree and started going back on with my life,” he explained.

It seems the universe worked out in Will’s favor:  Sheree filed for divorce on Valentine’s Day. However, Will initially refused to sign the divorce papers, which prompted Sheree to ask Will, “‘So you’re going to make somebody stay with you who doesn’t love you?” That was the one that got me,’” Will recalled. Sheree and Will divorced in 1995. “I literally walked right out [from signing the divorce papers and] I called Jada,” Will says with a laugh. “I said ‘Hey Jada, what’s up? It’s Will.’ She said ‘Hey, you doing?’ I said, ‘Good, are you seeing anybody?’ She said, ‘Uh, no,’ and I said ‘Cool, you’re seeing me now.’” With a laugh, Jada says, “And my dumb ass was like, ‘Okay.’ ”

The two would go on to see 20 years of marriage  but faced a brief mishap when they broke up over lack of communication and verbal abuse. As reported before, the pair has stood the test of time and now refers to one another as life partners instead of husband and wife.
