Will Smith is opening up about mental health in his new YouTube docuseries, “Will Smith: The Best Shape of My Life.” In the series, the celebrated actor reveals that he once considered suicide.
The docuseries follows Smith on his quest to lose 20 lbs in 20 weeks, but the weight loss journey leads to some deep revelations from the academy award-nominated star.
Smith says, “When I started this show, I thought I was getting into the best shape of my life, physically. But, mentally, I was somewhere else. And, I ended up discovering a whole lot of hidden things about myself.”
In one clip, the actor reveals to his family, “That was the only time in my life that I ever considered suicide.” While he doesn’t give context, it is presumed that watching the docuseries will explain it further.
The doc dropped yesterday to coincide with the release of his upcoming memoir, where the star says says “exposing my life and so many things that people don’t know.”
