Will Smith Says His Divorce From Sheree Zampino Was The “Ultimate Failure”

Will Smith says his divorce from his first wife #ShereeZampino made him feel like a failure.

As #FathersDay approaches, a special #RedTableTalk aired to celebrate fatherhood. During the sit-down, Smith opened about divorce being the “worst thing” in his adult life. “Divorce was the ultimate failure for me. I’ve been hurt a lot in my adult life, but I don’t think anything touches the failure of getting divorced from my 2-year-old son’s mother.”

Smith and Zampino were married for three years and share one son together, Trey. In 1997, Smith married #JadaPinkettSmith, who he shares two children with, #WillowSmith and #JadenSmith. In a clip from the episode, which airs in full this Sunday, the Smiths say they have discussed the idea that someone “might not be the best husband” but that it doesn’t mean they aren’t a “good father.” “With Sheree and with Trey, that was a really difficult time,” he admits.

Pinkett-Smith says she regrets dating Smith while he was still legally married to Zampino. “Because I did not understand marriage, I did not understand divorce, I probably should have fell back,” Pinkett-Smith said on an earlier episode of #RTT which Zampino, appeared as a guest on.  In response to Pinkett-Smith, Zampino joked, “You think?”
