Will The Independent Woman Be Lonely Forever?

Watch the video above. Yes, that is Tyrese and for some reason since he’s released a book he feels he should speak on relationships. This time he takes on the Independent Woman and talks about how your independence will leave you single. Some may agree, some may disagree. Tyrese made his point, allow me to make mine.

Do I feel that being independent may intimidate men? Yes, but only the weak ones that probably couldn’t do anything for you anyway. No man should ever want a woman that has nothing going for herself and those that do want these women, only want to control her. You don’t want that type of man in your life anyway. Granted, I do think it’s possible to be independent to a fault if you allow it to affect your attitude and you begin to have unattainable expectations for men. However, unattainable expectations and a bad attitude aren’t only a characteristic of independent women though. Spoiled women, gold diggers and women who come from wealthy families can act the same way. 

Tyrese says “Y’all are on this independent ‘I don’t need no man’ kick”. What exactly is an independent kick? For a man who has a daughter, is this really what you want to teach her? That she needs a man? No woman truly needs a man, she wants one. She would like one. Has any man in my 27 years of life kept me from eating, sleeping or living? No! Therefore he is not a need, he is something I would like. In fact, the more time I spend single the more I’m focused on doing the things I actually need to do, like provide for myself and my child financially. Is it possible that the independent woman has grown to realize that anything she wants in life she is responsible for getting & unless there is a man out there who is willing to give it all to her, she is going to get out there and make it happen INDEPENDENTLY? Is the independent woman really the problem or is it the insecure man?

Tyrese is the type of man you want to avoid letting get into deep thought. He clearly has no idea about what he’s talking about. He’s single himself, yet he wants to tell independent and hard working women to be dependent or be manless. Women are single for a number of reasons but I highly doubt it’s because she provides for herself. Beyonce has been independent for quite some time and she’s married a man who can compliment her. There are people out there who prefer to be single, that is not the definition of independent. And if she’s not looking for a man, why would her being single be a problem. I think maybe Tyrese should know the difference.
