Willow Smith has finally opened up about her dad’s now-infamous Oscars slap.
During her interview with Billboard, the 21-year-old daughter, who is the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, discussed why the media fallout from the Oscars incident didn’t “rock me as much as my own internal demons.”
“I see my whole family as being human, and I love and accept them for all their humanness,” she tells the outlet. “Because of the position that we’re in, our humanness sometimes isn’t accepted, and we’re expected to act in a way that isn’t conducive to a healthy human life and isn’t conducive to being honest.”
Willow’s statement came shortly after her dad spoke on the incident, which went down after Chris made a joke about Jada’s alopecia.
“I hate when I let people down. So it hurts, it hurts me psychologically and emotionally to know I didn’t live up to people’s image and impression of me,” Will said. “And the work I’m trying to do is, I am deeply remorseful and I’m trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself. I’m human and I made a mistake, and I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of s**t.”
“I know it was confusing, I know it was shocking, but I promise you I am deeply devoted and committed to putting light and love and joy into the world,” he added, “and, you know, if you hang on, I promise we’ll be able to be friends again.”
Will also apologized to Chris in his video, adding that he had reached out to the comedian directly but was told that Rock was not ready to talk and would reach out when he was.
“It’s all fuzzy,” Will said of Oscars night. “I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”
However, a source told ET that “Chris has no plans to reach out to Will.”

If you talk about a mans wife in front of him, you better be ready for some type of confrontation. Will Smith did nothing wrong in my eyes. Pookie was trying to start some trouble, so he got what he asked for. He insulted a mans wife right in front of him, so Big Willie from Philly smacked Chris silly. The woman has a medical condition and the man was making jokes about it, and laughed at her in front of the world. Everybody thought it was funny until the thug came out of Big Willie. Bet he wont make fun of sick women anymore. Will is a hero to his children, and a good role model for men who will stick up for their women and families when suckers try to bully and harass them for a cheap thrill. Thank you William the Bully Slayer for your heroism!
