Cheryl Christensen, 60, is accused of leaving her disabled son on the bathroom floor to die after falling from his wheelchair.
Family members of the 46-year-old man asked authorities to do a welfare check after becoming concerned about his well-being. The Journal Times and Racine County Eye obtained the criminal complaint that stated on October 28, authorities arrived at the victim’s home to find a note on the door that read, “On vacation, please respect that. Also, 7 months and no supplies, you are fired Human Services.”
Authorities returned two hours later. This time the victim’s sister and aunt accompanied them. That is when the discovery was made. When the police tried to enter the home, Christensen started to scream and tried to block the doorway.
Police found the unidentified victim on the floor under a blanket in the bathroom. The mother admitted to investigators that she did not call 911 after her son fell from his bed days before. She says she was unable to pick him up from the floor because of his size. Instead of getting help, she dragged his body to the bathroom, gave him pain medication, and left him to die on the floor.
Christensen allegedly told investigators that her son “deserved to pass away in a peaceful manner.” And she did not want him to die in a hospital.
The victim’s family told authorities at a recent doctor’s visit; he was given a good bill of health.
He was last seen alive on October 19.
