In a recent roster update, the Chicago Sky has decided to waive former West Virginia University guard Kysre Gondrezick. The move was announced on Friday, marking an end to Gondrezick’s brief stint with the team this season.
Gondrezick, a former top five WNBA Draft pick, saw limited action in just five games for the Sky. During her time on the court, she averaged 1.0 points, 0.4 rebounds, and 0.8 steals per game, with an average playing time of just over three minutes per game.
Originally drafted No. 4 overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2021 draft, Gondrezick played 19 games for the Fever in her rookie season. In February, she signed a training camp contract with Chicago, aiming to make a comeback.
During her senior season at West Virginia, Gondrezick was a standout player, averaging an impressive 19.5 points per game. She remains the highest-drafted player in West Virginia program history. Despite the setback, her potential and past performance suggest she may have more opportunities ahead in her professional career.
