Former Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler is said to be very close to completing the sale of the “Atlanta Dream” WNBA team.
According to Forbes, this move comes after players openly campaigned to have Loeffler pushed out because of her blatant opposition to the Black Lives Matter Movement.
In a statement to the Associated Press, the WNBA said that the franchise’s sale is close to being finalized and that the league will provide additional information once the negotiations are completed.
While the reports of the impending sale don’t mention who the likely new owner of Loefller’s 49% stake in the team will be, many celebs and athletes have expressed interest, including LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, the LA Dodgers’ Mookie Betts, and comedian Kevin Hart.
