The woman who was arrested for stealing Nancy Pelosi‘s laptop during the U.S. Capitol domestic terrorist attack on Jan. 6 has been charged.
On Thursday, Riley June Williams, 22, was charged with stealing and selling or disposing of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s computer laptop from Pelosi’s office on Jan. 6. Williams was also charged with resisting arrest, CNN reports.
The FBI says Williams took a video during the domestic terrorist attack, showing Pelosi’s HP laptop on her desk in her office. In the video, an official says Williams can be heard saying, “Dude, put on gloves.” A gloved hand then takes the laptop off the desk. The FBI says “Riley,” which is Williams’ name on social media, gloated on social media that she’d taken Pelosi’s “hard drives.”
A tip provided to prosecutors claimed Williams planned to send the laptop to Russia. Williams claims the allegations “came in part from a former abusive boyfriend” who has “threatened” her.
