According to reports, a 46-year-old woman threatened that she had a bomb in her check luggage all because she was told she couldn’t board a flight at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after arriving late at the gate.
The incident happened at Terminal 3 at around 8:45 p.m. on Monday.
While the Broward Sheriff’s Office’s bomb squad investigated, passengers were evacuated from the plane.
The FBI was contacted as well.
Despite the fact that the BSO discovered no genuine danger, Marina Verbitsky of Chicago was arrested.
When she and her family were denied boarding, Verbitsky allegedly cursed out three JetBlue employees.
According to the arrest report, Verbitsky made the bomb threat with “malicious intent.”
Authorities said she is being held at the Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale on one count of false reporting in connection with the planting of a bomb, explosion, or weapon of mass destruction.
