Surveillance footage from a local pharmacy shows a family calmly walking along the street when an unknown woman randomly jabs a sharp object in the face of a 3-year-old boy, in front of his parents.
The incident took place on Pekini Street in Tbilisi, a city within the country of Georgia (southwest of Russia). As the 51-year-old woman walks past the family, she swiftly reaches out and stabs the young boy, before circling back to attack the second, older female child before the father attempts to intervene.
An ambulance rushed the injured boy to the hospital where he was treated for cuts to his nose and cheek, which were deemed to be ‘moderately severe,’ according to Jam News. The toddler’s parents said they had never seen the woman before and were unsure why their family was targeted.
Although she managed to walk away from the scene of the attack, she was located by police the next morning and arrested but without revealing a motive. According to Mirror UK, the woman was reportedly charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on a minor and if found guilty, faces a prison term between seven and ten years.
