The California woman who allegedly punched a Southwest Airlines flight attendant in the face and grabbed her hair was charged with assault in federal court on Wednesday.
Vyvianna M. Quinonez was also charged with interfering with a flight crew and is scheduled to appear in a San Diego court on Sept. 17.
In court documents, prosecutors alleged that Quinonez attacked the attendant on the Southwest Airlines plane, who lost two teeth and suffered other injuries to her face on the May 23 flight from Sacramento, California, to San Diego.
A cut under the flight attendant’s left eye required four stitches, leaving her swollen and bruised, and her right arm was bruised.
Quinonez allegedly attacked the flight attendant after asking her to fasten her seatbelt, stow her tray table and properly wear her facemask as the plane began its final descent.
